Sonia Gandhi votes, flashes inked finger

From correspondents in Delhi, India, 12:30 PM IST

Congress president Sonia Gandhi voted Thursday in the Lok Sabha elections and flashed her inked finger to reporters but declined to answer any questions.

Gandhi turned up at the polling station at the Nirman Bhawan building in the heart of the city with Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and the party's New Delhi Lok Sabha candidate Ajay Maken.

After casting her ballot, Gandhi walked up to journalists and flashed her finger to show she had voted. But she made a quick exit from the scene even as reporters kept shouting questions at her.
