Undercurrent in favour of Congress, says Digvijay Singh

From correspondents in Delhi, India, 04:01 PM IST

Confident that the Congress would emerge the single largest party after the elections, general secretary Digvijay Singh said Wednesday that there was no question of talking about fresh allies till May 16.

The Congress leader said his party considered only the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Shiv Sena as communal parties.

'We are firmly in alliance with our UPA (United Progressive Alliance) allies. The undercurrent is in favour of the Congress in the country. There is no question of talks about alliance till May 16,' Digvijay Singh told reporters.

He said the Congress party was with its UPA partners. 'We are certainly emerging as the single largest party.'
