Hassan Khan, an independent candidate, was declared winner from Jammu and Kashmir's Ladakh constituency.

Khan, a former National Conference veteran, defeated rival Phuntsog Namgyal of the Congress by over 3,700 votes.

Khan in the 2004 elections had lost the cold desert constituency of Ladakh to Thupstan Chhewang, an independent.
