From correspondents in Maharashtra, India, 07:33 PM IST

Satyam Computer Services Ltd. (NYSE:SAY), a leading global business and information technology services provider, today announced that it’s Automotive Embedded Engineering Practice has achieved the PATHFINDER™ Organizational Maturity Level 5. PATHFINDER™ is an assessment and certification scheme for process capability and organizational maturity. It is only the third company to achieve Level 5 certification.

The assessment was performed for Satyam’s Automotive SPICE™ (Software Process Improvement Capability dEtermination) process assessment model. Satyam was evaluated on the specification, design, implementation and testing of embedded solutions developed by Satyam for automotive applications. The assessment was performed by a joint team from KPMG and Impronova.

Automotive SPICE™ is an initiative to develop a common framework for the assessment of suppliers in the Automotive Industry. It has been launched by the Automotive Special Interest Group (SIG)—a joint special interest group of The SPICE User Group and The Procurement Forum together with major motor vehicle manufacturers such as Porsche, Daimler, VW, Audi, BMW, Volvo Car Corporation, Jaguar, LandRover, Ford of Europe and the Fiat Group of Companies. As a condition of contract, suppliers have to be assessed and achieve target capability levels against the Automotive SPICE™ process assessment model.

“This is a great achievement for Satyam who has joined the elite group of high maturity organizations that have achieved PATHFINDER™ organizational maturity level 5 certification”, said Alec Dorling, the owner of Impronova and the international project leader of the SPICE project. He is also the ISO convener of the ISO/IEC 15504 Process Assessment standardization project and coordinates the Automotive SPICE™ initiative with the leading European car manufacturers.

Satyam’s implementation of best-in-class processes and measures that support the quantitative understanding of process performance and innovation in knowledge management, establish it as a world leader and trusted partner in the development of embedded solutions for automotive applications. Satyam has always been keen on complying with the emerging industry standards.

“It is indeed a moment of pride for Satyam’s Automotive Embedded practice to be certified at level 5 and is even more thrilling to know that this is achieved without any follow-up actions,” said Dr TSK Murthy, Global Head - Integrated Engineering Solutions. “It will encourage automotive decision makers to think of Satyam when they want quality work.”

Satyam’s Embedded Engineering practice is an integral part of a larger group - Integrated Engineering Solutions (IES), with a team of more than 800 engineers dedicated to provide embedded solutions, and has special expertise in Automotive Electronics domain for safety and control systems.
