IIT, CET, AIEEE Exam Preparation Goes Online

From correspondents in Punjab, India, 10:57 PM IST

Online education is gaining pace in India because of increasing distances, decreasing time and safety issues. Keeping in sync with the trend, Apt Academic Solutions, Hyderabad, has started online courses for engineering entrance preparation. They have chosen http://www.wiziq.com/, a free online learning platform focused on making learning more effective, efficient and intuitive, to impart the courses.

The courses will cover a series of Maths, Chemistry and Physics preparatory sessions for IIT, AIEEE, CET and other Engineering entrance examinations. Over 500 students have already enrolled in the courses starting on 4th August 2008.

Mr. Pankaj Kumar from Apt Academic solutions, says, “More than ten lac students appear for engineering entrance examinations every year. Many of them are from tier II cities. These students move to nearby cities in the quest of better coaching, thus spending a lot of money; whereas bigger cities have problems of traffic congestion and increasing distances. In the present scenario, online learning is the best option as it provides access to the best teachers to students from the comfort of their homes.”

Adding further he said, “We have chosen WiZiQ.com as the platform to deliver these courses as WiZiQ is equipped with live audio-video communication, chat and multiple document presentation features to interact with students in real time, outside of a classroom setting.”

The test preparation teaching business is an estimated $72bn market with about 60 lakh applicants spending Rs.12,000 per year. Engineering entrance preparation (CET, IIT, and AIEEE) accounts for a major share of this market.

Mr. Harman Singh, CEO, WiZiQ expressed his pleasure on this decision by a coaching centre to use WiZiQ’s Virtual Classroom. He said, “We are sure that such associations will help achieve the underlying objective of WiZiQ.com of connecting students and education service providers. WiZiQ provides a new face of knowledge delivery and this association is the manifestation of the same. This is a platform where students and teachers can have the best of knowledge exchange at their convenience.”
