Asia’s first ecotel, The Orchid has embarked upon a massive expansion drive and is all set to open as many as eight more five star properties under the Orchid brand within the next two years, the executive chairman and managing director, Kamat Hotels India Limited (KHIL), Mr Vithal Kamat said. He also added that all of these properties will live up to its positioning of “FRIENDLY- ECO-FRIENDLY”
This expansion entails opening up of hotels in Pune (Maharashtra), Kollam (Kerala), Phagwara (Punjab) and Jaipur (Rajasthan) in the current financial year. The next year will see another four environment friendly hotels coming up in Hyderabad (Andhra Pradesh), Ahmedabad (Gujarat), Coimbatore (Tamilnadu) and Nagpur (Maharashtra). Some of the properties will be owned by the companies and some of them would be managed by the company under an exclusive franchise contract. With this expansion, the company will be operating in seven states under the Orchid brand.
The first of these ecotels will be coming up in Pune. The 220-room property will be launched by October this year. The hotel is situated at the youth common wealth games site at Balewadi, Pune and will host top athletes and officials across the globe.
Construction is on at different stages in all the eight properties and group is confident to reach the target of construction in all the properties in due time. The group is evaluating various metroes and other business destinations and looking for expansion opportunities.
