Indian Immunologicals Ltd (IIL), a wholly owned subsidiary of the National Dairy Development Board has donated nearly Rs. 1 Crore worth of veterinary vaccines and healthcare products to the Department of Animal Husbandry in Bihar . These include essential livestock vaccines, antibiotics, dewormers and other medicines needed for flood relief, to help the government face the threat of epidemics. These relief materials were handed over to the Bihar Government on 15th September 2008.
During floods there is a real threat of epidemics of devastating livestock diseases such as Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD), Haemorrhagic Septicaemia (HS) and Black Quarter (BQ). Vaccination against these diseases is a must to protect against irreparable losses. Affected animals have also to be treated with the onset of diseases.
IIL, a Hyderabad based biotech major with a turnover of Rs.196 Cr in 2007-08 is the No 1 animal vaccine company in India and ranks 3rd among all animal health companies in India . With a strong portfolio of animal and human vaccines, IIL stands 8th amongst all biotechnology companies in India .
IIL has been consistently working towards making healthcare and immunization affordable to the people and livestock owners. This donation reiterates IIL’s resolve to contribute its might for the well being of the livestock owners in India, especially to those who need them most but cannot afford.
