The Teacher’s Achievement Awards bestows honour and recognition to individuals renowned for their achievements in fields of Business, Communication, Entertainment and Sports. This year, the company revitalized its communication strategy by introducing its new campaign ‘ASPIRE’ for Teacher’s Achievement Awards. ‘ASPIRE’ reinforces the positioning of Teacher’s Achievement Awards which is built on the core space of ‘ACHIEVEMENT’.

Eminent personalities have been nominated in each category of the Teacher’s Achievement Awards. An illustrious Advisory Board has been instrumental in guiding and shortlisting the nominations this year and a distinguished panel of jury members, who are achievers in their respective fields, have been appointed to identify a winner in each of the four categories.
The nominees in Business category include distinguished personalities Ajay Bijli, Chairman & MD, PVR Cinemas; Alok Kejriwal, CEO, Contest 2 Win; Raja Kanwar & Sanjay Gaikwad, Founder & Chairman, UFO Movies; Sanjeev Bhikchandani, Co-founder & CEO, Infoedge India Ltd. and Neeraj Roy, MD & CEO, Hungama.com. The panel of judges includes stalwarts like Kashi Memani, Former Chairman & Country Managing Partner, Ernst & Young India; Subir Raha, Executive Vice Chairman, Hinduja Group India and Subodh K Bhargava, Chairman, Wartsila India Ltd. in the Business Category. The Advisory Board for the Business category includes Onkar S. Kanwar, Chairman & MD, Apollo Tyres Ltd., Bharat Patel, Chairman, Procter & Gamble Hygiene and Healthcare Ltd and SM Datta, Chairman for Philips Electronic Ltd, Castrol India Ltd, Tata Trustee Co, ILFS Investment Management, Reach Cargo Ltd, Peerless Hospitals and Director for Peerless General Finance & Investment Co. The Entertainment category boasts of talented music composers – Kailash Kher, Monty Sharma, Pritam, Sajid-Wajid and Shantanu Moitra and versatile singer Sunidhi Chauhan as nominees. The panel of judges for the entertainment category includes Indian classical sarod player Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Ghazal mastero Jagjit Singh and Jazz exponent Louis Banks. The Advisory Board for this category Pritish Nandy, Chairman, Pritish Nandy Communications, Ramesh Sippy, Filmmaker and Founder, Ramesh Sippy Entertainment and L.Subramaniam, Indian classical violinist.
The nominees in the Communication category – this year focused on Fashion, as an expression of Communication include renowned fashion designers Ashish Soni, Manish Arora, Namrata Joshipura, Rajesh Pratap Singh, Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Suneet Verma, Varun Bahl and Wendell Rodricks. The eminent jury members for this category are Rajiv Takru, Director-General NIFT and acclaimed fashion designers Ritu Kumar, Rohit Bal and JJ Valaya. The Advisory Board for this category includes Prahlad Kakkar, Director, Genesis Films, Sathya Saran, Editor, DNA and Rathi Vinay Jha, Secretary General, WTTC India Initiative.
The nominees for Sports category are Olympic Gold Medalist Abhinav Bindra, shooter Jaspal Rana, racer Karan Chandhok, billiards player Pankaj Advani, golfer Shiv Kapur and Olympic Bronze Medalist boxer Vijender Kumar who have achieved laurels for India at various levels in the global sports arena. The respected panel of judges includes former billiard player Micheal Ferreira, former cricketer S. Venkatraghavan and Ayaz Memon, Associate Editor, DNA. The Advisory Board for the Sports category includes former opening batsman of Indian Cricket team Kris Srikkanth, former Indian Hockey team captain and Coach Zafar Iqbal and former Football player PK Banerjee.
This year a special award - Teacher’s Achievement of the Year - has been introduced. The special award will be given to the individual who has not only showcased leadership and excellence but also redefined achievement in their own way. A special jury consisting of four members have been appointed to decide the first ever recipient of the ‘Teacher’s Achievement of the Year’ award. The entire process of nomination for the four categories of Business, Sports, Entertainment & Communication and selection of the winners is validated by the leading global audit firm - KPMG. The eligibility criteria for Teacher's Achievement Award nominee are stringent, adhering to those outlined by KPMG. Some of the critical deciding factors include a proven track record, originality and innovation, peer recognition and significant milestones achieved in the chosen area of expertise, among others. The winners of the 8th Annual Teacher’s Achievement Awards 2008 will be announced on November 8, 2008 at ITC The Maurya, New Delhi.
