The Haryana government has sanctioned a sum of Rs.99 million ($2.5 million) to the Kurukshetra Development Board for developing places of religious and tourist importance.

This amount would be spent on the strengthening of infrastructure, developing landscape and conservation of various places that fall within a 48 km radius of Kurukshetra town, a board spokesman said Wednesday.

He said the focus will be on providing world class amenities for the convenience of the pilgrims and tourists visiting the holy places in Kurukshetra, which is some 100 km from Chandigarh.
