Threat to blow up historic temple in Saharanpur

From correspondents in Uttar Pradesh, India, 03:01 PM IST

Security around a historic temple in Uttar Pradesh's Saharanpur district was beefed up Friday following a threat to blow up the shrine, some 500 km from here.

'Swami Sahajanand Maharaj, a priest of an ashram adjoining the 200-year-old temple of Shakumbari Devi in the Shakumbari village of the district, informed us that he received an anonymous letter containing a threat to blow up the temple,' the district's Senior Superintendent of Police Amit Chandra told IANS.

'We have already started investigations and strengthened the security around the place,' he added.
