Jewellery and cash worth over Rs.1.2 million were found stolen from a Hindu temple in Hosur town in Tamil Nadu Friday, the police said.

The strong room of the temple and its donation box were found rifled. The police said they had lifted fingerprints from the scene.

'We are hopeful of capturing the perpetrators soon,' a police officer said. Situated 350 km southwest of Chennai, Hosur lies along the border of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh in Krishnagiri district.
