Omar Abdullah takes up Haj pilgrims' problems with centre

From correspondents in Jammu, Jammu and Kashmir, 10:02 PM IST

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has taken up with the central government the problems Haj pilgrims from the state faced in Saudi Arabia, official sources said Saturday.

The sources said Abdullah had written a letter to Minister of State for External Affairs Shashi Tharoor informing him about the complaints made by the pilgrims from the state.

The chief minister, who had received the first batch of the Haj pilgrims on their return in Srinagar Thursday, said he was told by the pilgrims that there were inadequate arrangements for their stay and many facilities were not available to them.
