Nanavati submits report on Mohali incident

From correspondents in Maharashtra, India, 03:05 PM IST

The Sudhir Nanavati commission, appointed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India to probe the incident of Harbhajan Singh slapping Santakumaran Sreesanth, Tuesday submitted his report to the Board's Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) here.

The report will be submitted to Board president Sharad Pawar, who is also the chairman of the three-member Board's disciplinary committee, president-elect Shashank Manohar and Chirayu Amin being the other members. The committee will decide on the quantum of punishment for Harbhajan.

'I have submitted my report to Board's CAO Ratnakar Shetty and now it is for the disciplinary committee to decide,' Nanavati told reporters after submitting the 14-page report.

Harbhajan has already been banned from Indian Premier League after match referee Farokh Enginner found him guilty of slapping Sreesanth after going through the tapes of the controversial match between Kings XI Punjab and Mumbai Indians.

Nanavati, who was given 15 days to complete the investigation, in his initial reaction after seeing the tapes stated he was shocked by what he had seen.
