Twenty-member Indian Archery team in Tehran

A 20-member Indian contingent comprising talented rookies is participating in the second Asian Grand Prix being held in Tehran.

Archery Association of India (AAI) secretary P.N. Mukherjee said the junior archers had been sent for the tournament, which started Thursday, to give them international exposure ahead of the Youth World Championship in Turkey in October and also to prepare them for the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi.

Mukherjee said the Asian GP would be the only international exposure for the juniors before the Youth World meet.

The Indian contingent is made up of 16 archers and four coaches.

Team:

Recurve, Men: Rajib Basumatary, Adonda Raju, Nayan Moni Nath and Somnath Mondal.

Women: V. Pranitha, Pratima Boro, Rimil Biruly and Balmai Hansdah.

Compound, Men: Sanjay Swansi, Ksh. Nikon Singh, Deepak Karmakar and Birsa Bandiya.

Women: Namita Yadav, Sweety Kumari, Asrita Kerketta and Sumanlata Murmu.

Coaches: Dharmender Tiwary, Gunin Changmai, D. Saiswary and Ran Bahadur Tamang.
