Young talent Virat Kohli got his maiden One Day International (ODI) call-up while Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni returned after a break to lead a 16-member squad in the five-match series against Sri Lanka announced here Thursday.

Lanky pacer Ishant Sharma was rested for the series starting Aug 18.

Sharma, however, figured in the 15-member squad announced by the Indian selectors for the Champions Trophy to be played in Pakistan from September 11. Parthiv Patel and Munaf Patel will return to India after the ODI series.

The Indian squad for the Sri Lanka series: Mahendra Singh Dhoni (captain), Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh (vice captain), Sachin Tendulkar, Rohit Sharma, R.P. Singh, Irfan Pathan, Zaheer Khan, Pragyan Ojha, Suresh Raina, Harbhajan Singh, Praveen Kumar, Munaf Patel, Virat Kohli, Parthiv Patel.
