India's singles campaign in New Delhi Challenger ends

Indian campaign in the $50,000 New Delhi Challenger ended after Sunil Kumar Sipaeya and Prakash Amritraj bowed out fighting in the second round at DLTA complex here Wednesday.

While wild card entrant Sipaeya lost 6-7(7), 4-6 to Japanese Toshihide Matsui, Prakash, seeded second, caved in 6-7 (4), 6-7 (3) to another Japanese Gouichi Motomura here.

Sipaeya's campaign ended in doubles as well when he partnering Ashutosh Singh went down to Czech Tomas Cakl and Dieter Kindlmann of Germany 1-6, 7-5, 4-10 in the quarter-final.

In the other doubles event, Yuki Bhambri and Jeevan Neduncherhiyan were given a 6-4,6-2 thrashing by their fourth seeded compatriots Purav Raja and Rohan Gajjar, who are the sole Indian pair to reach the semi-final stage of the event.
