The last time Uzhavoor village near here came into the limelight was in 1997 when K.R. Narayanan became the president of India. It once again got an opportunity to celebrate when Sunny Thomas, the country's shooting coach, returned home after Abhinav Bindra won India its first individual Olympic gold medal at Beijing.12:01 PM on August 20

The Gold/Silver/ Bronze/Total medal count for the top three,as at 2105 hrs IST is:China 46 15 22 83; United States 28 34 31 93; and Britain Great Britain 17 12 11 40. INDIA NO MENTION. If only India,if not Kerala with credit for just one gold, could develop or bring in a lot of good coaches for the Olympic games in the next round,and motivate our sleeping youth to aspire, it would be a positive step to undo the crying shame India has suffered in Beijing.
