India under-16 football team leaves for England

India under-16 football team leaves for EnglandMumbai, Sep 1 (IANS) The under-16 football team, as part of its preparation for the finals of the AFC Championships, left here Monday for a nine-day exposure trip to England.

During the tour, the team will play two practice matches against youth teams of Premiership clubs Everton (Friday) and Manchester United (Sept 9).

The AFC Championships will be played in Uzbekistan in October and telecom major Airtel is sponsoring the team.

The team also had a similar three-week camp at West Virginia in the United States in July.

The squad:

Goalkeeper: Abhishek Das, Gurpreet Singh Sandhu and Jayanta Paul.

Defenders: Ajit Dhurva Bhoir, Ashfaq Ali , Ashish Chetri, Deepak Devrani, Shallum Pires, Sumit Rawat, Taranjit Kumar , Tanmoy Ghosh, Vishal Kumar and Ravindra Kumar.

Midfielders: Akshay Vimal Kumar Mall,Bijendra Rai, Bikramjit Singh,Shilton Sydney D'Silva , Harpreet Bedi, O.R. Lalrindika, Sunny and Tirthankar Sarkar.

Forwards: Raegan Albarnas ,Abhishek Das, Malsawmfela, Prem Kumar and Vivek Kumar
