Faisal Khan of Railways shocked top-seed Manan Chandra 1-3 enroute booking a berth in the knock-out quarter-finals from Group A in the Madras Gymkhana Club's All-India invitational snooker tournament, here Wednesday.

Delhi's Manan (Petroleum SBB) came up with a mixed performance by first defeating M.S. Arun (Karnataka) 3-1 and then going down to Faisal in the preliminary league stage.

Even as Chandra struggled, Faisal chalked up his fifth win.

The other qualifiers for the second phase of the competition would be confirmed later tonight when the final set of matches is scheduled.

The results:

Group A: Manan Chandra (PSBB) bt MS Arun (Karnataka) 3-1; Faisal Khan (Railways) bt Chandra 3-1.

Group B: Aditya Mehta (PSBB) bt Sidharth Rao (MGC) 3-0; Devender Joshi (PSBB) bt Mehta 3-1.

Group C: R Girish (TNBSA) bt MC Manoj (MGC) 3-0; Anuj Upptal (Del) bt Varun Kumar (TNBSA) 3-1.

Group D: Harpreet Singh (TNBSA) bt Dilip Kumar (TNBSA) 3-2; Dharmeder Lilly (Punjab) bt Lucky Vatnani (Karvy) 3-2.
