The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is open to launch a mission to Mars if the government gives a green signal, a top official of the space agency said here Wednesday.12:31 AM on April 12
Great reading! Every lover of India wishes the days of grand successes for our country on the world map in science, technology, mathematics, and engineering, medicine, etc., especially for uplifting the country from its economic, industrial, and political morass and social disparities and discouraging harmful extraneous forces of casteism, religious conversion and reservations. Real successes can mean India's contribution to world records, and will greatly boost the sense of pride and love of country, and will help revive our sense of nationalism, so vital for progress, which is at a low ebb. ISRO Chairman Mr Nair's capability claim and proposal, must, however, considered warily and needs to be taken with a pinch of salt, a big one at that, given its history of failed space projects. We cannot forget also how another GOI's high tech Department of Atomic Energy with its production and research wings like BARC have together performed not so well despite their periodic announcemeents of breakthroughs and developments. The original 'nuclear strategy' of atomic power plants dotting the landscape of India including the socalled 'breeder reactors" never seemd to take any active shape, and now they are desperately waiting for the Americans to do it with Indian involvement! One wonders if ISRO Chairman's capability claim is just a an immediate Indian response to the great Chinese feats in hardware right up to high technology, with much chance of translation into actuality.
