Eleven Noble laureates to join Allabahad science conclave

At least eleven Nobel laureates would attend the seven-day conclave of the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Allahabad, starting Dec 8, the institite announced Wednesday.

Nobel Laureates Douglas D. Osheroff (Physics), Avram Hershko, (Biologist/Chemist), Robert C. Richardson (Physics), Joseph H. Taylor (Physics), Richard Ernst (Chemistry), William Phillips (Physics), Peter Agre (Chemistry/Medicine), Jean-Marie Lehn (Chemistry), Ludwig Faddeev (Mathematics), Klaus Von Klitzing and Gerard T. Hoot (Physics) would attend the conclave, stated the IIIT-A press release issued Wednesday.

Over 1,500 young scientists, science students and teachers from across the country have been selected for this seven-day conclave.

About 24 distinguished international scientists from Switzerland, Germany, Canada, Russia, the US, the Netherlands, Denmark will be interacting with the participants, the release added.

The ministry of human resource and development and the department of science and technology have jointly supported this event, officials said.
